Windy is in the process of designing an innovative 40-foot model, aiming to capture a wider segment of the profitable adventure boat market, under the name Windy SR40, previously known as SR38.
This new design will be available in both inboard and outboard versions, broadening its market appeal. The inboard models will be equipped with two powerful Volvo Penta D6-440 DPI diesel engines at the stern. On the other hand, the outboard variant is expected to be the preferred choice for consumers, thanks to its superior performance and the advantage of more storage space.
A great power
Equipped with two powerful 600 HP Mercury Verado V12 engines, the Windy SR40 is expected to reach speeds of over 48 knots. This model follows in the wake of the recent Windy 37 Shamal and Windy 34 Alizé in terms of exterior design, the work of renowned Norwegian designer Espen Øino, known for his collaboration with German superyacht manufacturer Lürssen.
The design, complemented by full glass side panels and sliding doors on both sides of the operator’s platform, provides comprehensive protection for the forward section of the cab. Another notable addition is the folding bulwarks at the rear, which extend to increase the available deck space.
This area provides access to the bathing platform and features a sunbathing area, available on both inboard and outboard versions. In addition, the outboard models feature a large compartment under the sundeck area, designed to accommodate docking stations for two Sea Bobs.
A state-of-the-art interior
The interior design has been entrusted to the British studio Design Unlimited, renowned for their work on several famous yacht projects. One of the most innovative features of the Windy SR40 is its versatility to open and close the boat’s cabin, thanks to its side doors offering the possibility of a fully enclosed or open boat for any circumstance.
The Windy SR38, now called SR40, will make its debut at the Palma International Boat Show.
