An award winning design
One of the distinguishing features of the Windy SR60 is its performance in demanding conditions. To ensure optimal and dry performance while sailing, the Cape Horn Engineering team conducted a rigorous testing and analysis process using CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics).
According to the technical team:
“We carried out a rigorous testing procedure to evaluate and analyze the boat’s performance in different sea states. One of the client’s main concerns was the amount of spray the yacht might experience when crossing waves at speed. CFD investigations and analyses were carried out to minimize splashing or prevent it from being propelled back towards the boat”.
To address this challenge, the design of the Windy SR60 was optimized by including a pronounced flare in the bow, and meticulous work on the position of the chamfers and water deflectors, elements that significantly reduce water ingress on board.
This technical approach, added to the care for aesthetics and Scandinavian engineering, reaffirms the objective of the Windy SR60: to offer a fast, comfortable and as dry as possible sailing experience, even in rough seas.
